After reading about “Atomic Bamboozle” (“Activists show, discuss nuclear documentary ‘Atomic Bamboozle’ at Kiggins in Vancouver,” The Columbian, June 2), I noticed some irony in Ms. Chudy’s statement that the construction of nuclear facilities is a big cause of carbon pollution and global warming. Could the same be said about the mining for material to build batteries, construction and disposal of wind turbines and solar panels?
Eventually, nuclear facilities and green energy devices will wear out, needing replacement or abandonment. Perhaps the current desire of some environmentalists for the good old days of the 16th century, when life was natural and the air was pure, will return.
