Hannah Hartman began serving as the principal of Washougal’s Columbia River Gorge Elementary School on July 1. Hartman succeeds Heather Kassel, who served as the interim principal last year.

Hartman has worked for the past three years as an associate principal in Camas School District. Her previous experiences include teaching in elementary schools for more than 10 years, and working as an elementary school principal for four years. Hartman has a global perspective on education, having taught and led schools in England, China, Poland, Nigeria, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Canada. She added, “I believe it is our job to make learning fun and to prepare students to be successful and positive contributors in our world. It is an exciting time to be a River Otter!”

Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries has appointed Justin Keeler to be interim executive director starting Aug. 1, following the retirement of Amelia Shelley.

Keeler, who has worked 13 years with the district, most recently has been serving as outreach and community partnerships director. His priorities for the coming months include helping the district transition to a new Operations Center in August, setting the 2024 budget, and continuing the work done to build a new Woodland Community Library.

Keeler’s appointment will continue until a new director has been selected.
