A pedestrian was taken to an area hospital early Friday morning with serious injuries after being struck by a car in the Walnut Grove area.
Clark County sheriff’s deputies responded at 12:58 a.m. to reports of a crash on Northeast 78th Street near the intersection with St. Johns Road.
Deputies, along with crews from the Vancouver Fire Department and AMR, arrived to find an injured pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle had initially driven away from the crash but then returned to the scene, according to a sheriff’s office news release.
Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash, the agency said.
Detectives with the sheriff’s office’s Traffic Unit are continuing to investigate, along with the Battle Ground Police Department.
