A heat advisory is in effect today as temperatures soar well into the 90s. It will be short-lived with some cooling Sunday, probably into the upper 80s, and then a weak trough of low pressure from the Gulf of Alaska pays us a brief visit on Monday.
This cold pocket of air will usher in some breezy conditions and even a chance of some drizzle or light rain showers. Right now, my thinking is we remain mostly dry, but our foothills and northern portions of the county could pick up some light measurable precipitation. That is how it appears Friday as I write my column. Always subject to changes, right?
Meanwhile warm weather will abound Tuesday and the rest of next week with seasonable to a little above average afternoon temperature. As of Friday, we are still running way above normal with our average mean temperature, nearly 4 degrees above the statistical average for mid-July.
As I mentioned here the other day, we will continue to have temperature swings up and down but overall a little above average. Summer continues as we head toward the month of August.
