Washington State University Vancouver’s resident corpse flower Titan VanCoug completed its bloom on Friday, but the pungent giant flower remains on public display from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in the school’s Science and Engineering building.

The temperamental plant blooms for just 24 to 48 hours before closing up, extinguishing its stench and slowly collapsing.

School officials estimated about 3,000 to 4,000 people came to visit the corpse flower Friday. The plant is still available to view in its closed state via the school’s livestream at https://www.vancouver.wsu.edu/.

Professors that observe and take care of Titan VanCoug believe a new sprout just below the dirt may produce another bloom as early as mid-August.
