Two local teenage golfers had standout performances against some of the top amateurs in the Northwest last week.

Dane Huddleston, an 18-year old from Woodland, shot 8-under to tie for second place in the Washington Amateur Championship at Wine Valley in Walla Walla.

Huddleston finished the 54-hole tournament Thursday six shots behind Christian Yanagi, who just finished his senior year competing for Washington State University.

The field included 120 of the state’s best players 18 and over. Derek Baade of Vancouver finished tied for seventh at 3-under.

Grady Millar won the 2023 Bob Norquist Oregon Junior Amateur tournament at Rock Creek Country Club in Portland.

A 16 year old who just finished his sophomore year at Mountain View, Millar finished the five-day tournament by winning his final match play round on Friday 5 & 4.
