The Vancouver Master Chorale is accepting applications for its 2023 Youth Vocal Scholarship.

The scholarship winner will win $1,500 to further their vocal studies, and will perform at the Chorale’s May 6 and May 7 concerts. A second-place winner will receive $750.

Applicants must be enrolled in high school (public, private or home school) in Clark County or one of its neighboring counties in Southwest Washington or Oregon (Skamania, Cowlitz, Columbia or Multnomah).

Applicants will be required to prepare and submit recordings of two pieces. One must be classical, and the other may be classical, opera or musical theater. Contemporary pop songs are not eligible. The deadline to apply is April 14.

Judges for the contest are Dr. Scott Tuomi, director of choral music at Pacific Lutheran University; opera singer Susan Pautz of Vancouver; and Jana Hart, singer and Master Chorale director.
