A Vancouver man was killed Friday afternoon when his motorcycle collided with a car in Hazel Dell, according to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred about 1:45 p.m. just north of the intersection of Northeast 99th Street and Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue. A statement from the sheriff’s office said Ivan Nitikin, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The statement said Nitikin’s motorcycle collided with a Volkswagen sedan that was turning southbound from a parking lot onto Northeast Hazel Dell Avenue. Nitikin was thrown from the motorcycle and ended up partially underneath the sedan.

Bystanders called 911 and began attempting CPR on the fallen motorcyclist, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators learned that Nitikin had recently purchased the Suzuki DRZ motorcycle and had taken it out on a test ride Friday.

The crash is under investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit, according to the statement. It said speed may have played a role in the crash.

The driver of the Volkswagen was not injured and remained at the scene, the statement said.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Clark County Fire District 6 and American Medical Response all responded to the call.
