Clark County TeenTalk is looking for new youth volunteers to help run the peer-to-peer support line.

“If you have an open mind and a good ability to listen to other people, I have found that a lot of different kinds of young people can be really successful at volunteering with TeenTalk,” said Kris Henriksen, program coordinator for the organization. “For three hours a week, you can be an empathy rockstar.”

Volunteers commit to one supervised three-hour shift per week, “offering compassion to their peers.” Eligible volunteers are youth between 15 and 19 years old, living in Clark County.

Youth volunteers take phone calls and listen to other youth who need someone to talk to, according to Henriksen. They are not expected to be crisis workers and if a caller needs further support, staff members will help connect them to community resources.

Youth interested in volunteering can call Henriksen at 564-397-5199 or fill out an interest form at ccteentalk.clark.wa.gov/get-involved-teens.

To access Teen Talk services, call 360-397-2428, text 360-984-0936, email ccteentalk1@hotmail.com, visit ccteentalk.clark.wa.gov or find the organization on various social media platforms.
