Snow flirted with Clark County on Valentine’s Day, but had mostly melted by the time people were starting their day.
A few schools reported delayed starts Tuesday, and Woodland, La Center and some Battle Ground schools were closed, but daylight revealed few, if any, problems driving around the metro area. Snow and ice may linger at higher elevations for a few hours.
The National Weather Service in Portland canceled its winter weather advisory, and was calling for a mostly sunny afternoon, with a high temperature of 44 degrees. At Pearson Field in Vancouver, temperatures didn’t dip below freezing at any time overnight on Monday. It was 36 degrees at 6 a.m. Some snow, however, fell briefly before 4 a.m., putting slush briefly on local roads. The snow appeared to be heavier north of Vancouver.
C-Tran announced Route 47, serving Yacolt, is not operating. Other operations have returned to normal.
Forecasters say this is the closest we will get to a winter storm this week. The weather is predicted to remain dry through Friday, with rain possible on the weekend.
