The clouds thinned Wednesday to expose us to sun around 4 p.m. Today, we see more sunshine, although high clouds will be increasing in the afternoon as a weak weather system approaches.
Speaking of weak, the storm Tuesday underperformed. I expected a quarter of an inch at least, but the best we could muster was about a tenth of an inch. We have another storm Friday that will probably follow in Tuesday’s steps with just a bit of rain.
The weekend looks dry with sun breaks. Clouds increase late in the day Sunday as a cold trough of low pressure drops down for a visit from the Gulf of Alaska. This is the one we have been chatting about for a while that offers a cold pool of polar-maritime air from the northwest. This signals heavy snow for ski areas and some local snowfall in our foothills to the east.
As showers linger Tuesday and maybe into Wednesday morning, snowflakes will mix in. If you are lucky enough to get a heavy shower at the right time, you could see a brief snow cover on the nonroadway surfaces.
