Yanni Fassilis scored 32 points as the Union boys basketball team beat Skyview 71-62 in overtime on Tuesday to clinch the 4A Greater St. Helens League’s No. 2 seed to the bi-district tournament.
It’s the third straight game of 30-plus points for Fassilis, who scored 18 points in the first half.
Trailing 47-42 after three quarters, Union rallied with Tucker Dunseth making two of his five 3-pointers in the final quarter.
Union then outscored Skyview 9-0 in overtime.
Damaree Collins scored 39 points to lead Skyview (12-9, 1-5), which needed a win to keep its postseason hopes alive.
Union (15-6, 4-2) will host Rogers-Puyallup in a loser-out bi-district tournament game on Saturday.
Skyview’s loss means Battle Ground earns the 4A GSHL’s final berth to bi-districts. The Tigers travel to face Puyallup in a loser-out game Friday.
Camas, which beat Battle Ground 93-78 Tuesday to wrap up the league’s top seed, hosts Bellarmine Prep in a winner-to-state game Friday.
WOODLAND 59, RIDGEFIELD 53 — Drew Burns scored 17 points and Dane Huddleston added 16 as the Beavers wrapped up the 2A GSHL’s No. 3 seed with a road win.
Woodland (13-7, 11-5) and Ridgefield (11-9, 10-6) entered Tuesday tied for third. The Beavers will face Evergreen Conference No. 2 seed Black Hills in the first round of the district tournament on Saturday. Ridgefield will face EvCo champ Tumwater.
Woodland’s Beau Swett scored 11 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter to keep the Spudders at bay. Justin Philpot added 12 points.
Cole Chester scored 15 points to lead Ridgefield.
Girls basketball
CAMAS 71, BATTLE GROUND 12 — Kendall Bachelder scored 30 points as the Papermakers completed a perfect 4A GSHL campaign.
Bachelder, the team’s lone senior, made six 3-pointers and hit 12 field goals in 27 minutes in her final regular-season home game.
Camas (18-2, 6-0) will host Bellarmine Prep in a winner-to-state game in the bi-district tournament on Friday.
MARK MORRIS 63, R.A. LONG 32 — The Monarchs shook off a slow start to wrap up the 2A GSHL’s No. 2 seed.
Mark Morris (15-6, 13-3) finishes in a second-place tie with Woodland but swept the season series against the Beavers.
The Monarchs, who trailed 9-4 after one quarter, outscored the Lumberjills 45-16 in the second half. Isabella Merzoian finished with 18 points to lead all scorers, and Natalie Mejia added 16 points.
Alauna Brown and Breyelle Box each scored 12 points for R.A. Long (2-15, 2-14).
