Volunteers keep Park Hill Cemetery in central Vancouver groomed

Headstones, markers at its gravesites tidy, readable thanks to two who give time, labor

Vancouver resident Martin Jacobsen likes getting his hands dirty. Nearly every day for the past 10 years, Jacobsen has come to Park Hill Cemetery in central Vancouver to pull weeds and trim back the grass, often by hand, growing over the headstones and markers.

“I have diabetes and (atrial fibrillation) and being out here has made … it a lot better,” Jacobsen said.
