Peyton Dukes scored 20 points and Emma Iniguez added 19 as the Columbia River girls basketball teams used a big second quarter to pull away from Washougal for 68-47 win Thursday at Washougal.
The Rapids hit four 3-pointers in the second quarter to outscore Washougal 24-8 and take a 33-18 lead into halftime.
Jenna Klopman scored 10 of her 12 points in the third quarter to keep Washougal close. But Dukes had six points in an 8-0 run to put River back in control at the end of third quarter.
Gracie Glavin added 13 and Marley Myers added 12 for the Rapids (6-2, 6-0 2A Greater St. Helens), who have won six straight.
Bella Albaugh had 15 points and Klopman had 12 for Washougal (3-5, 3-3).
Girls basketball
LA CENTER 54, TENINO 31 — Paige Sherry scored 13 points as the Wildcats snapped a three-game skid with a non-league win at home.
McKenzie Schockelt added 10 points and Billie Ross grabbed 15 rebounds for La Center (4-5).
The Wildcats led 16-4 after the first quarter and never looked back, dropping Tenino to 2-8.
CASCADE CHRISTIAN 35, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 32, OT — Bridget Quinn had a double-double but the Knights fell short in overtime at home.
Quinn had 19 points and 10 rebounds. She scored all four of her team’s points in overtime.
King’s Way (5-3) had its five-game winning streak snapped by Cascade Christian (6-3).
KELSO 59, TODD BEAMER 19 — Peyton Champagne and Hayden Johnson each scored 11 points as the Lassies rolled to a win in Federal Way.
Bregan Ruhland added 10 points for Kelso (2-5).
Boys basketball
WEST VALLEY-YAKIMA 69, BATTLE GROUND 45 — Trey Spencer scored 15 points but the Tigers couldn’t overcome cold shooting in a non-league home game.
Battle Ground (3-5) was 2 for 18 from 3-point range.
Landen Birley scored 27 points and Parker Mills added 21 points as West Valley improved to 6-1.
CASCADE CHRISTIAN 48, KING’S WAY CHRISTIAN 42 — Ryan Tyler scored 15 points but the Knights went cold down the stretch in a non-league loss at home.
King’s Way was outscored 16-3 in the fourth quarter.
Jaydon Hall added 13 points, including three 3-pointers, for the Knights (4-3).
Cascade Christian (5-3) of Puyallup shot 11 for 16 at the foul line in the fourth quarter.
