Clark County Scouts to collect Christmas trees

Although Christmas has yet to arrive and some folks may need to decorate, Scouts in Clark County want you to know they will recycle your tree in the new year.

Clark County residents who receive a flyer from local Scout troops are asked to place holiday trees outside their home by 8 a.m. Jan. 6. Make sure the tree is visible and doesn’t blend in with the bushes. Faux trees and those covered with synthetic snow cannot be recycled.

Find out whether the Boy Scouts will stop by your home by visiting www.scouttreerecycling.com. Contact a district coordinator at treecycle.eastcc@gmail.com if you don’t receive a flyer by Jan. 1.

The Scouts suggest a donation per tree, as the annual recycling event is a primary fundraiser for the organization. The Cascade Pacific Council Boy Scouts of America is comprised of 8,000 children in 19 Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon counties.
