Letter: Teach values of original America

By Vern Schanilec, Washougal

It’s time for the silent majority to disassociate itself from the decadence of educational and political morass. The once-donors to universities need to find or create in middle America a system of education where freedom of expression is honored, and be prepared to host thousands of new students. Obtain the best professors to teach values of the original American culture, graduating those whom corporations would hire. Replace ivy as the symbol of education for the olive tree with its branches of fruit fit for harvesting.

We need to cleave the two coasts, from the mountain to the sea, so that elitists of Harvard, Columbia, MIT, Penn, et al, and CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC, Washington Post, Oregonian, and Seattle, New York and Los Angeles Times can hold court in their arrogance of decay. Let them speak to each other.

Regressives demonstrate with glee their hysteria of hate speech. There must be a reason conservatives don’t hit the streets with a response. Perhaps it’s time for the vastness of Middle America to demonstrate to the world, and ourselves, what the united states of America (low case intended) stand for, and retain the status of a beacon on a hill for all to emulate and seek (legally).

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
