Bethlehem, Palestine, has canceled Christmas celebrations in order to protest the human catastrophe caused by Israel’s war against Hamas. On Nov. 27, a delegation of Christian pastors from Bethlehem flew to Washington, D.C. They delivered their letter to President Joe Biden and congressional lawmakers urging them to push for a permanent cease-fire in Gaza: “This should have been a time of joy and hope. This year it is a season of death and despair. This year Christmas prayers are our only hope in the middle of this human catastrophe. This year Christmas celebrations are canceled in Bethlehem.”
