Letter: C-Tran service falls short

The C-Tran Mill Plain route used to go from the Evergreen Transit Center to downtown traveling down 98th Avenue, 92nd Avenue, 87th Avenue, onto Garrison, on McLoughlin. Then it went from Fisher’s Landing to downtown and back. For a while we could go from Fisher’s Landing to the 99th Street Transit center.

Instead of putting transponders on the buses that would turn the traffic lights green, C-Tran started spacing the stops so they were a half-mile or less apart. They also moved the stops farther away from the intersections so traffic wouldn’t be impeded. They did alternating 164th Avenue and 192nd Avenue runs, which was great. We could get safety stops when it was dark or icy out. If the bus was running late it could go to deboarding status only. Some of the drivers would pick us up even if we were not at a stop. They would ask if we were going home if we didn’t ring the bell. Now that is what is called good customer service by a company that use to be in the transportation business.

The C-Tran of today doesn’t offer good transportation options with their Vine systems.
