Letter: Be considerate shoppers

By Jane Higgins, BATTLE GROUND
Published: December 6, 2023, 6:00am

Once more we are in the busy holiday shopping, dining out and entertainment season. I believe I am not alone in making this request. When you get in your car to leave an establishment, please resist the urge to check your messages, email and make phone calls before you vacate your parking space. It is maddening to circle around a parking lot, hoping for an open space and see people get in their cars to leave and promptly get on their phones with no regard for those waiting for a parking space.

If you absolutely must use your cellphone, even for a short message, please move to the far corner of the parking lot before you find out the latest, deliver your message or check your list. Those who saw you preparing to leave and are lining up behind you, hoping for your space, will thank you.

We encourage readers to express their views about public issues. Letters to the editor are subject to editing for brevity and clarity. Limit letters to 200 words (100 words if endorsing or opposing a political candidate or ballot measure) and allow 30 days between submissions. Send Us a Letter
