The Greater Vancouver Chamber and PeaceHealth announced Friday that Kim and Lisa Capeloto are this year’s recipients of the First Citizen Award for their philanthropic efforts and contributions to community growth.
The First Citizen Award, dating back to 1939, is presented annually to a Clark County resident who embodies the spirit of community leadership and civic pride.
“The community we live and work in is a rare gem, and we feel truly blessed to be a part of it,” Kim Capeloto said in a press release. “The previous First Citizen award winners have set a great example for us all to follow. To receive this award is incredibly humbling, and we are deeply honored.”
Kim Capeloto, who left his role as executive vice president and chief banking officer at Riverview Bank last year after 11 years, has volunteered with many organizations, including the Northwest Association for Blind Athletes, Humane Society for Southwest Washington and Greater Vancouver Chamber, the press release said.
He has also served on boards for Identity Clark County, the School of Piano Technology for the Blind, and the Community Foundation for Southwest Washington and the J. Scott Campbell Foundation.
“If you can be involved with organizations that are bettering the communities overall where we live, then I wear that like a badge of honor,” he told The Columbian last year. “That’s why I’m involved with them.”
Lisa Capeloto has spent more than a decade planning events, working on fundraisers and volunteering, according to the press release. She is the development director at CDM Caregiving Services and has volunteered with several organizations, including the PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation.
“We are absolutely delighted to honor Kim and Lisa Capeloto as the well-deserving recipients of the 2023 First Citizen Award,” Greater Vancouver Chamber President John McDonagh said in the press release. “Their commitment to community development, transformative efforts, and enduring impact have left an indelible footprint on our region.”
The Capelotos will be recognized during a live-streamed ceremony at 5 p.m. Oct. 5 on the Greater Vancouver Chamber’s Facebook page. There are limited tickets for the in-person event at the Battle Ground Community Center, starting at $75 per person.
