We are back in the pleasant summer weather regime which I like with highs today and Wednesday in the 75- to 80-degree range. You know that can’t last right? Thursday through Sunday we have highs forecast between 85 and 90 degrees. Will we log in another 90-degree high temperature? Maybe a couple.
The smoke was slow to depart our local area but by late afternoon on Monday skies were turning blue once again from west to east as cooler marine air rushed inland via west to northwest winds. As we warm up later in the week there is a slight chance a stray thunderstorm may meander into the county but as of this writing only a 20 percent or 30 percent probability.
Looking ahead to next week we have a complex weather pattern possible with another chance of showers but even though some forecast models are showing this development, I’m thinking we will stay dry. With each passing day of no rain and sunshine, wildfire chances increase. Most parts of Western Washington have complete burn bans and for good reason.
The remnants of Tropical Storm Hilary brought several inches of rain to far Eastern Oregon and some made it up to far Eastern Washington but at 5 p.m. no rain had fallen on the out-of-control wildfires in the Spokane region. The radar indicated the rain shield some 50 miles south of the area.
