CAMAS — Members of 100 Women Who Care Clark County presented $7,725 to the YWCA – Sexual Assault Program on Aug. 9, at its third meeting of 2023 held at Salud! Wine Bar in Camas. Program Director De Stewart accepted the funds on behalf of the organization.

The local giving circle selected the YWCA – Sexual Assault Program at their May meeting. Second Chance Companions and the Humane Society of Southwest Washington were the other nonprofit nominees at that meeting.

“Our program offers 24/7, confidential empowerment to victims of sexual assault and their families by providing legal, medical and emotional support,” said Stewart. They also offer advocacy, support groups, counseling, community outreach and education opportunities, which includes helping families keep their very young children safe from assault.

The donated funds will help fund a Spanish speaking advocate to increase accessibility to the program’s services for Spanish speaking members of the community.

Founded in 2018, 100 Women Who Care Clark County is a giving circle that meets four times a year and has donated close to $100,000 to local nonprofits since inception. Members who attend are eligible to nominate local nonprofits to be considered for the group’s donation. Members commit to a quarterly $100 donation to the charity voted upon by the members at each meeting.
