A fire in a debris pile at a Vancouver scrap yard Friday evening put out a large plume of smoke visible throughout downtown Vancouver.
The fire at Pacific Coast Shredding, 900 Port Way, was reported at 7:25 p.m. Crews from the Vancouver Fire Department responded and found workers on the site battling a 30-by-30-foot fire in metal debris.
The fire, which put out a plume of thick black smoke clearly visible from the Vancouver waterfront, was brought under control but was still putting out smoke as of about 7:45 p.m.
