Gather your bait, hook, sinker and bobber, and prepare to absorb some “reel” science.
The Washington State Lake Protection Association is hosting its second Western Washington Lakes Workshop, which touches on the intricacies of lake ecosystems. The virtual event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. May 6, is free, and those who are interested can register at www.walpa.org.
Environmental scientists, fish managers and toxicologists will cover a range of topics, including how aquatic species survive and thrive in lakes, local fish-stocking efforts, water contaminants, and fish consumption. Each presentation is expected to last 20 minutes with time for a Q&A session.
Organizers say the workshop is ideal for anyone who wants to connect with their local lakes, whether it’s a fisher, lakeside homeowner or those who are simply curious. For further questions, contact Katie Ruthenberg at info@walpa.org.
