Evergreen’s Kadence Burleson is The Columbian 2022-23 Week 25 prep athlete of the week

Junior softball standout hit two home runs and drove in nine runs last week

Evergreen softball player Kadence Burleson is the The Columbian 2022-23 Week 25 high school athlete of the week, presented by Heavy Metal Pizza in Vancouver.

Burleson received 371 of the 1,106 votes cast this week to win the honor.

The junior scored seven runs, belted two home runs and had nine RBI in three games for first-place Evergreen.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Nominees are posted and voting begins each Monday and runs through Wednesday.

Here are the accomplishment of the other nominees:

GRAYSON CALDWELL, UNION BOYS TRACK AND FIELD: The junior ran an area season-best 1:56.64 for 800 meters at the Oregon Relays and posted a 51.76 for 400 meters.

JP GUZMAN, COLUMBIA RIVER BOYS SOCCER: Guzman scored two goals and added three assists in two more league wins for the undefeated Rapids.

ELIISA MARSHALL, CAMAS GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD: The sophomore ran the anchor leg in three placing relays at the Oregon Relays, helping Camas set a school record in the sprint medley.

JAROD OLDHAM, HOCKINSON BASEBALL: The senior went 3 for 6 with a home run, two stolen bases and four RBI and struck out 10 in 6.2 innings pitched in two league wins for the Hawks.
