CAMAS — Norma June Barratt was born March 24, 1923, grew up in Winlock where she attended school and graduated in 1942.

A hard worker, Barratt operated a small ironing business to make extra money while attending school. After graduation, she went on to work in a variety of occupations, including plucking turkeys on a poultry farm, tagging Christmas trees, waitressing and working as an aid in the Bremerton hospital.

It would be her time working in a telephone office in Winlock and Centralia that would lead her to move to the Clark County as she followed her career to Camas, where she met her husband Ray Barratt. Her final job before retiring was at Pendleton Woolen Mills, where she worked for 25 years.

In their younger years, the Barratts loved exploring the outdoors, with favorite pastimes including fishing, boating and camping, though Mrs. Barratt’s favorite hobbies were always tending her garden at home and taking strolls through the neighborhood.

Now at age 100, Barratt enjoys the company of her family most of all, boasting a love for two adopted grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
