The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said investigators determined a report of a student threatening violence Wednesday at Jason Lee Middle School was unfounded.

At about 10:30 a.m., a parent received a text from their child saying they overheard another student make a veiled threat toward another student. The parent notified school administrators and the sheriff’s office, according to an agency news release.

Administrators isolated the student who reportedly made the threat and contacted the parents of all the students involved, the sheriff’s office said.

Investigators and school officials determined there was no immediate danger, and it was unlikely the student intended to carry out any threats, according to the news release.

The sheriff’s office said school officials are ensuring the safety of students, and the investigation will be forwarded to juvenile prosecutors for review.

The agency commended school staff for their quick response and procedures in place to respond to threats.
