Find the inspiration that’ll jump-start your home improvement creativity and connect with the professionals who can make your vision a reality—all under one roof.
Visit the Clark Public Utilities Home & Garden Idea Fair and immerse yourself over two days of everything that makes a house truly a home.
“We’re so excited to be hosting the Home & Garden Idea Fair once again,” said Clark Public Utilities Marketing and Events Specialist Maxie Mayer. “It’s a longtime favorite for our employee-volunteers; not only is the show a lot of fun to host, but they get to meet our customers in person and chat about the many benefits our utility offers.”
On Saturday and Sunday, April 29 and 30, at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds, more than 215 exhibitors, community partners, landscapers and plant nursery and farmers market vendors will be on site. So, whether you’re looking for advice for your next project, a beautiful new tree or a handy new garden tool, you’re sure to find it.
“Many of our vendors and exhibitors are local so they understand our economy, our energy services and our climate and the uniqueness of our community,” said Communications Coordinator Molly Casteel. “That means they can offer very relevant information, products and services that’ll enhance your home and garden.”
But that’s just part of what the fair has to offer.
Clark Public Utilities linemen and servicemen will demonstrate the work it takes to service a utility pole and keep the lights on in our community. Other utility staff will be there to answer your energy and water conservation questions, explain utility programs and services and talk about our role as your community-owned power and water company.
Our environmental stewardship employees and AmeriCorps members will share the many ways we’re working to protect our natural habitat — and how you can help.
Fair visitors can take a tour of the ADU Cottage Neighborhood and learn about life with a mother-in-law suite in the backyard. Stop by next door at the EV garage to see an electric vehicle and home charging set up in person.
Several of the area’s most impressive landscapers will be there with full-scale garden installations, filled with babbling water features, impressive stone work and lush planted beds.
Plus, there will be loads of fun activities for kids of all ages. PowerZone Live includes hands-on energy demonstrations, creative nature-inspired crafts, and a play space to dig with kid-size heavy equipment. Families can also learn about saving up with Columbia Credit Union’s Spend Checking — a checking account and debit card designed specifically for kids 18 and under. Be sure to grab a passport and get it filled with stamps for a chance to win prizes.
Admission is free, but donations of nonperishable food for local food banks or cash for Operation Warm Heart, a program providing home heating assistance to families in financial crisis, are welcomed. Parking at the event is $6 per vehicle. However, the utility provides free shuttle bus service from the Fisher’s Landing and 99th Street transit stations.
