A woman was robbed of her purse and knocked to the ground as she was walking Wednesday through the Vancouver Mall parking lot.

Vancouver police responded at 10:50 a.m. to reports of a strong-armed robbery at 8700 Vancouver Mall Drive.

A woman was walking to work when she noticed a maroon-colored vehicle, resembling a Kia Optima, drive past her and park. Then, a man got out of the vehicle and attacked her from behind. The man grabbed her purse and knocked her down during the struggle. He then got back inside the vehicle with her purse, and the vehicle drove away, according to a police department news release.

Witnesses said there were three people in the maroon vehicle, police said.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Vancouver police’s Major Crimes Unit at 360-487-7440.
