Seton Catholic junior Alexis Leone won the Meriwether Cross Country Classic on Friday at Hillsboro, Ore., coming in with a time of 17 minutes, 46.8 seconds on the 5,000-meter course at Meriwether National Golf Club.
Leone outdistanced Lake Oswego sophomore Ana Peters, who finished second in 18:08.3, and Union junior Charlotte Wilson, who was third in 18:16.9. There were 209 finishers in the girls race.
Union finished sixth in the team race with 188 points, Skyview was seventh (199) and Columbia River 10th (303) out of 26 teams. Sunset of Portland won with 58 points.
In the boys race, the top Clark County finisher was Columbia River junior Neftali Menendez, placing 16th out of 288 finishers with a time of 16:10.2. The Rapids placed ninth out of 33 teams with 333 points.
Wesley Shipsey, a senior from Central Catholic in Portland, was the overall winner in 14:50.8 and Central Catholic was also the team champion with 71 points.
