Jonathan Landry leads Evergreen to 42-9 win over Kentlake

Senior has two long punt returns, one for touchdown

Jonathan Landry had two big punt returns, including one for a touchdown, as Evergreen beat Kentlake 42-9 to move to 3-0 for the first time since 2004.

The Plainsmen dominated on the opening drive, going 80 yards on eight plays, the last one was a 12-yard touchdown pass from Jayden Crace to LaDaimien McCord that put Evergreen up 7-0.

Evergreen then was sluggish on offense, but got a spark when Landry returned a punt 47 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead with 1:27 left in the second quarter.

Landry had a 48-yard punt return early in the third quarter to set up Crace’s 4-yard touchdown pass to Arthur Ban, putting Evergreen up 21-3.

Crace finished with 146 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Evergreen’s defense was outstanding, holding Kentlake to 33 yards of rushing.

Anthony Lamberth caught four passes for 140 yards and a touchdown for Evergreen. Josiah Alanis had two second-half interceptions.
