COWLITZ INDIAN RESERVATION — A car rally to raise money for a veteran equine therapy program is planned for Saturday at ilani, 1 Cowlitz Way, Ridgefield.

Windhaven Ride for Veterans will feature motorcycles, trikes and classic cars beginning at 7 a.m. There will be an opening ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by a collective ride at 10 a.m. to Territorial Park, 21400 N.E. 399th St., where there will be vendors, food and live music.

There will also be a demonstration to show attendees how horses can help veterans cope with post-traumatic stress disorder and face trauma-related symptoms. Lifeline Connections and the American Legion Riders Tum Tum Post 168 are hosting the event.

Drivers are encouraged to donate $25 to ride in the event and $7 for each passenger in the registered vehicle. All money collected from event registration and donations will go toward the Windhaven Veterans Program, a 8-week-long program that helps veterans heal through establishing an emotional connection with horses.

The first 500 registrants will receive a free patch with the Windhaven Ride for Veterans logo, which features a horse with an American flag backdrop.

For more information, visit www.wrfv.org/home/register or call 360-397-8246.
