No doubt about it, the seasons are changing. We will enjoy cooler weather this week with some clouds at times and highs in the 70s. Fine with me. Extended forecast charts still indicate an increasing chance of rain showers arriving over the upcoming weekend. Hopefully so, we need it. Any outdoor projects on the list better get started.
Of course, if rain moves in, it won’t be the start of the fall rainy season with one rain storm after another. Plenty of early fall weather with sunshine and pleasant afternoon temperatures to come. The overnight lows will be cooling back in the 50s for good sleeping conditions.
Clouds and moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Kay moved northward and kept our high Sunday below 80 degrees at 79 degrees. There were a few sprinkles but officially for Vancouver only a trace amount. Portland International Airport recorded 0.02 of an inch, breaking its 67 days of dry weather. Vancouver didn’t have a long dry spell worth chatting about as we had 0.01 of an inch of drizzle on Aug. 9.
We had no recent temperature records as we failed to tie the 29 days of 90 degrees in one calendar year. We stopped at 28 days. Odds are decreasing rapidly that we will have another 90-degree high but I can’t write that off quite yet.
