Four townhomes in Vancouver’s Walnut Grove neighborhood were damaged in a Friday evening fire.

Vancouver Fire Department firefighters were called at 9:24 p.m. to 5522 N.E. 74th Ave. after several callers to 911 reported a porch was on fire.

When firefighters arrived, they found a large fire rapidly spreading throughout the four homes, which share common walls. They called for a second alarm, bringing most of the city’s on-duty firefighters to the scene, along with Clark County Fire District 6.

According to a news release from Vancouver fire, the fire spread from the front of the homes into their attics. Firefighters had to enter each home to attack the fire and search for occupants. No one was reported injured.

The fire was declared under control after about 45 minutes. In all, about 30 firefighters were on scene with a dozen pieces of apparatus.

The Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office will investigate the cause of the fire.
