Men’s Soccer

THE WEEK THAT WAS

The Penguins (0-3, 0-2) dropped a road match against Skagit Valley 2-1 on Saturday in Mount Vernon. Musa Jatta put the Penguins ahead 1-0 with a goal in the 40th minute…. Clark opened Northwest Athletic Conference play with a 3-0 home loss to Whatcom on Wednesday.

THE WEEK TO COME

The Penguins face Everett on the road Wednesday before returning home for a Saturday match against Edmonds at 3:15 p.m.

Women’s Soccer

THE WEEK THAT WAS

The Penguins split two home matches to open the season. After beating Peirce College 3-1 on Wednesday, Clark fell 6-3 to Lower Columbia on Saturday. Camile Rios scored a goal in both matches. Kelli Huskic had a goal and an assist Saturday and an assist Wednesday.

THE WEEK TO COME

THe Penguins face Tacoma at 2 p.m. Wednesday at home, the travel to Olympia on Saturday to face South Puget Sound.

Volleyball

THE WEEK THAT WAS

The Penguins (3-3) swept Centralia (25-23, 25-13, 25-23) on Friday at home. Brooklyn Byers and Iliana Bille each had eight kills and Anna Poen had six aces. That came after Clark dropped a five-set thriller on Wednesday to Lower Columbia (25-20, 25-20, 25-13, 25-18, 15-13).

THE WEEK TO COME

The Penguins open NWAC play with home matches against Southwestern Oregon on Friday and Rogue Community College on Saturday.

Cross Country

THE WEEK THAT WAS

The Penguins opened the season at the Viking Rust Buster on Friday at Westmoreland Park in Portland. Gary Sherman was the fastest Clark runner in the 6,000 meter men’s race, placing 37th in 21 minutes, 19 seconds. Jane Kuebrich led the Penguins in the 5,000 meter women’s race, placing 31st in 21:04.

THE WEEK TO COME

The Penguins are next in action Sept. 16 at the Eastern Oregon University Invitational in La Grande, Ore.
