Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue Chief Michael Jackson has been named the Washington State Association of Fire Marshals 2022 fire marshal of the year. Clark-Cowlitz Fire Rescue’s Community Risk Reduction staff members, who described Jackson as one of the most pro-active and innovative fire prevention leaders in the state, nominated him for this award.

Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in fire and safety engineering technology at Eastern Kentucky University and his Master of Public Administration at the University of Washington.

Columbia Credit Union has welcomed Sharif Burdzik to its business lending team to spearhead the credit union’s small business outreach and support in the greater Vancouver and Portland metro areas.

Burdzik found his passion for community and small business banking after moving to the Pacific Northwest in the early 2000s. He has served on the boards of many local organizations, and serves on the WSU Diversity Advisory Board and is a director for Partners in Careers, the Clark College Foundation and the Watershed Alliance. An active member of the Greater Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, Burdzik has also served the city of Vancouver on both the Fire Service Delivery Committee and the Police Department Community Task Force and currently serves on the annual evaluation committees for the City’s CDBG, HOME and Affordable Housing Fund grant programs.

Washougal Safeway pharmacist Delaney Santon has been awarded the Best Pharmacy Technician award, as part of SingleCare’s celebration of American Pharmacists Month.

In addition to serving patients, Santon put in countless hours at a mass COVID-19 vaccination site, helping to process some 50,000 COVID vaccines.
