Prairie, Mountain View and Evergreen will play in a tiebreaker on Monday to see which team will extend its season, and the format will be a little different from past tiebreakers.

Evergreen’s loss to Kelso on Friday, coupled with Prairie’s win over Heritage, left all three teams tied for second place at 2-2 in the 3A Greater St. Helens League.

That forced a three-team tiebreaker set for 7 p.m. Monday at Doc Harris Stadium in Camas. No admission will be charged to attend. The winner will face Rainier Beach in the 3A state preliminary round on Saturday in Seattle.

To get there, the three teams will not follow a tiebreaker format that follows normal overtime rules.

Evergreen won a coin toss and received a bye from the first tiebreaker. Prairie and Mountain View will get things started.

In this format, each team will receive two possessions, and each possession will start from the 40-yard line.

If the teams remain tied after each team has had two possessions, the tiebreaker will revert to normal overtime rules with each possession starting from the 25-yard line.

If the teams remain tied after each team has had one possession starting from the 25, each team will have another possession starting from the 25.

If needed, any additional possessions will start from the 10-yard line until a winner is determined.

The loser between Prairie and Mountain View will be eliminated, and the winner will face Evergreen, following the same procedures as the first tiebreaker. The winner of the second tiebreaker will advance to play Rainier Beach.

Gates at Doc Harris Stadium will open at 6 p.m.
