BATTLE GROUND — The situation entering the last week of the regular season was as clear as it gets for Prairie. The Falcons needed a win and needed Kelso to defeat Evergreen to force a three-way tie for second place in the 3A Greater St. Helens League.
And that’s exactly what happened.
Prairie thumped the Heritage Timberwolves 50-0 at District Stadium. The Falcons, the Plainsmen and the Mountain View Thunder all finished the regular season with 2-2 records in league play.
A Kansas tiebreaker on Halloween night at Doc Harris Stadium between the three teams will determine who will get the league’s second and final playoff spot.
The Prairie offense, without its leading passer Braeden Slamp and leading rusher Alexander Ford, started off slowly but caught fire in the second quarter putting up 27 points to take a 40-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. Sophomore Isaac Watson threw for two of his three touchdown passes in the quarter and Pierson Lameh added a 40-yard run for the Falcons.
