Columbia River freshman Lucas Walburn finished up a stellar fall tennis season by winning the 2A district title on Friday at Club Green Meadows.
Walburn, who lost just once this season, defeated Aaron Boggess of W.F. West 6-4, 6-4 in the final to qualify for the 2A state tournament in May at Seattle.
Fort Vancouver’s Andrew Walczyk also qualified for state by placing third at district. He won his final match over Josh Do of Black Hills.
In the doubles final, Aiden McCoy and Cavin Hogan of R.A. Long beat Cole Benner and Alex Harris of Columbia River 6-1, 6-1. Both teams will be going to state.
Columbia River won the team title at district, ahead of W.F. West.
