A man was shot Wednesday morning in central Vancouver, but police said his wounds don’t appear to be life-threatening.

Vancouver police responded at about 3:30 a.m. to the 2000 block of Brandt Road for reports of a disturbance with a weapon. Callers reported to 911 that they heard multiple shots fired, according to a police news release.

When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man who suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided medical aid until he was taken to an area hospital, the police department said.

Detectives recovered multiple spent shell casings. A nearby vehicle and the wall of an adjacent apartment complex were struck by gunfire, the news release states.

Based on information from witnesses, investigators believe the shooter and the victim know each other, according to police.

No other injuries were reported.

Detectives with Vancouver police’s Major Crimes Unit are investigating.
