Andie Buckley of Columbia River is 2022-23 Week 7 Columbian prep athlete of the week

Soccer standout beats out Evergreen's Claire Rogge for honor

Columbia River soccer player Andie Buckley is the The Columbian 2022-23 Week 7 high school athlete of the week.

Buckley received 398 votes to outdistance Evergreen cross country runner Claire Rogge for the honor.

Buckley had four goals and four assists in two league wins for the Rapids.

Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.

Five new nominees and new ballot will be posted each Tuesday with voting continuing through Thursday.

Here are the other nominees:

KEVIN KIM, MOUNTAIN VIEW BOYS TENNIS: Kim won three matches in straight sets, including a 6-3, 6-2 win over Trevin Livingston of Evergreen in the final to capture the 3A district singles title.

CLAIRE ROGGE, EVERGREEN GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY: The sophomore scored a 16-second victory to capture her second consecutive 3A district title at Kelso.

BAILEY TRAHAN, SKYVIEW GIRLS SWIMMING: Trahan won the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke at the Southwest Washington Invitational at Mark Morris.

MAGGIE TUMELTY, UNION SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL: Tumelty went 5 for 8 with four runs, a home run and two RBI as the Titans clinched a state berth with two wins over Battle Ground.
