Seton Catholic clinches postseason berth with win over Fort Vancouver

To borrow from a well-known holiday song the weather outside was frightful but Joe Callerame and Kolten Gesser were so delightful.

Callerame accounted for 158 yards from scrimmage and scored two touchdowns rushing, one touchdown receiving and one on an interception return and Gesser was a perfect 11-for-11 with 202 yards passing, helping the Seton Catholic Cougars to a 53-6 win over Fort Vancouver at a rainy, cold, windy Kiggins Bowl.

The victory clinched a postseason berth for the Cougars (2-3 in 1A Trico League play, 4-4 overall).

Callerame, who rushed for 94 yards, scored two touchdowns rushing in the first quarter and added a 62-yard interception return in the second quarter. Jacob Williams added two touchdowns as well on the ground.

In addition to the touchdown pass to Callerame, Gesser tossed a touchdown pass to Ryker Ruelas. Lukas Morse had two interceptions for the Cougars, one of which he took in for a touchdown.

Kaeleb Cvitkovich, who threw for 331 yards last week, was held to 113 yards passing due in part to the poor weather conditions and the ball-hawking Seton Catholic defensive backfield. He did connect with wide receiver Evan Mendez on an 11-yard scoring strike just before the final horn.

Jordan Oldham added 71 yards rushing for the Trappers (1-3, 2-6), who end their season next week at Columbia in White Salmon. The Cougars play host to rival King’s Way Christian next week.
