Prep Highlights: Brasier of Camas, Union doubles wins 4A tennis district titles

Top-seeded Aiden Brasier of Camas rolled to the Class 4A boys tennis district title on Thursday at Vancouver Tennis Center.

Brasier beat Skyview’s Aiden Bucerzan 6-0, 6-1 in the championship match.

That came after Brazier beat Camas teammate Leo Zhao 6-3, 6-0 in the semifinals Thursday morning.

Bucerzan, the No. 3 seed, beat No. 2 seed Ishan Mehta of Camas in the semifinals.

Brasier will try to secure his second consecutive state berth at the bi-district tournament next weekend in Kent.

Union’s Rowan Thanwani and Alex Lin won the doubles district title, beating Nathan Chen and Austin Shin of Camas 6-0, 6-3 in the championship match.

Stars of the day

  • Sydnee Boothby, Washougal girls cross country, was the individual winner at the 2A GSHL Championship, covering 5,000 meters at Lake Sacajawea Park in 18 minutes, 24 seconds. The Panthers also won the team title.
  • Samuel Grice, Washougal boys cross country, won the individual title at the 2A GSHL Championship, covering the Lake Sacajawea 5K course in 16:08.
  • Neftali Menendez, Columbia River boys cross county, placed second at the 2A GSHL Championship in 16:23 to lead the Rapids to the team title.
  • Lizzy Andrew, Ridgefield volleyball, had a team-high 15 kills in a 3-0 win over Fort Vancouver.
  • Ani Vossler, Hockinson girls soccer, Scored two goals in a 5-1 win over Mark Morris.
  • Claire Jones, Ridgefield girls soccer, had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Washougal.
  • Ella Schoene, La Center volleyball, had 21 kills, 21 digs, four blocks and 11 service points with three aces at No. 4-ranked Wildcats beat King’s Way Christian 3-0 in the Trico League match.
  • Alice Anderson, R.A. Long girls soccer, scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Woodland.
  • Shaela Bradley, La Center girls soccer, scored four goals in a 5-2 win over Columbia-White Salmon.
  • Mia Thorburn, Camas volleyball, served up 12 points with four aces to go with 11 assists and seven digs in the Papermakers’ 3-0 win over Mountain View.
  • Anna Mooney, Seton Catholic girls soccer, scored the Cougars’ first four goals in a 7-0 Trico League victory over Stevenson.
  • Ella Conklin, Prairie volleyball, had 18 kills, 10 digs and six blocks in a 3-1 win over Union as the Falcons improved to 10-2.
  • Lauren Dreves, Columbia River volleyball, had 19 kills and nine digs as the top-ranked Rapids stayed unbeaten with a 3-0 win over Hockinson.
  • Ellie Mathison, King’s Way Christian volleyball, had 15 kills and 14 digs in a 3-0 loss to La Center.
  • Annie Hite, Skyview volleyball, had seven digs, 12 assists, eight kills, and four aces in a 3-0 win over Evergreen.
