The Department of Justice awarded Clark County $120,575 in grant fund to combat gun violence and youth violence.

Clark County was one of 19 Byrne Grant award recipients. The grants totaled nearly $10 million to support community safety, meet the needs of law enforcement and provide a foundation for youth violence intervention programs, according to a Department of Justice news release.

The grant is named in honor of New York City Police Officer Edward R. Byrne, who was killed in the line of duty in 1988.

The news release does not say how Clark County intends to use the funding.
