Washougal cross country runner Sydnee Boothby is the The Columbian 2022-23 Week 6 high school athlete of the week.
Boothby received 205 votes to beat out Columbia River volleyball player Lauren Dreves.
Boothby was the overall runner-up in the Lewis & Clark Invitational in Estacada, Ore., helping Washougal to a team title.
Winners of the athlete-of-the-week may not be nominated again during the regular season, and no athlete may be nominated in consecutive weeks.
Five new nominees and a new ballot will open next Tuesday, and voting continues through Thursday.

MCKELVEY BREWER, HUDSON’S BAY GIRLS SWIMMING: Brewer won the 100 butterfly in a state-qualifying time of 1:04.54 and won the 500 freestyle in a meet at Kelso.
LAUREN DREVES, COLUMBIA RIVER VOLLEYBALL: Dreves had 19 kills, 10 digs and four aces in a win over Mark Morris and 23 kills, 13 digs and two aces in a win over Ridgefield.
LEXI GRUMBOIS, KELSO SLOWPITCH SOFTBALL: Grumbois went 9 for 9 with two home runs, two triples and 12 RBI in three wins for the Hilanders.
ELI HUNTINGTON, CAMAS BOYS GOLF: The senior shot a 7-under-par 133, including a first-round 64, to win the 4A district tournament at Heron Lakes Golf Club.
