I’m certain that there is “value” with electric vehicles. Everything has value to some degree; even a watch which does not run anymore still gives the correct time twice a day.
The news recently carried stories of electric cars in Florida after Hurricane Ian suddenly becoming explosive due to water damage.
One 2014 electric vehicle needs a new battery at a cost of $14,000; so the vehicle sits unused due to the unaffordable replacement, which is more than what the present owner paid for the entire vehicle.
Another electric vehicle, dated 2010, needs a new battery at a cost of almost $30,000.
The thought of 8- and 12-year-old vehicles decorating driveways due to being too expensive to replace dead batteries is a somewhat “valuable” item to ponder.
These realities of long-term ownership need to be given some serious thought, as 8- to 12-year-old vehicles historically were not considered to be that old.
