Friends of Trees seeks volunteers to join a planting crew. Online training is available through Oct. 29. Volunteers are expected to commit 20 hours, including online training and four planting events. Events are commonly on Saturday mornings, October through May, with five options in Vancouver and more in the Portland metro area. Crew leaders are particularly needed in Vancouver. Ren Locus Volunteers Income Tax Assistance seeks volunteers to provide free tax-filing service for low-income families in our communities. Training to help volunteers pass the IRS tax-preparation certification exam is provided. The minimum commitment is four hours a week during tax season, Feb. 1 to April 17.
