Andersen’s 4 TDs lead Woodland in rout of R.A. Long, 52-21

WOODLAND — Elijah Andersen is a pretty good football player. And he’s only a sophomore.

Andersen, the county’s third-leading rusher entering Friday’s game, rushed for 195 yards and four touchdowns and added 64 yards receiving as the Woodland Beavers trounced the R.A. Long Lumberjacks 52-21 in a 2A Greater St. Helens League football contest.

With the win the Beavers find themselves right in the thick of the playoff chase, improving to 3-1 in league play and 4-2 overall. They currently sit in third place

Woodland raced out to a 38-0 lead through three quarters as the Beavers rushed for 316 yards on the evening. Junior quarterback Brett Martynowicz registered 125 yards passing and a touchdown.

R.A. Long (0-4, 0-6) was led by senior quarterback Shaun Mize who passed for 170 yards and added 83 more on the ground. Koynn Williamdyke amassed 124 yards receiving, including a 77-yard touchdown pass on the game’s final play.

The Beavers face Hudson’s Bay next week at Kiggins Bowl, while R.A. Long plays host to league-leading Washougal.
