Look out, 4A Greater St. Helens League. The Camas Papermakers are rolling with confidence heading into league play.

“We’re going to for sure win these next three games. For sure,” junior running back Reid Tennant said. “I have confidence.

There is reason for that confidence. Tennant rushed for 175 yards and three touchdowns as Camas beat Evergreen 42-14 for the Papermakers’ third consecutive win.

“We got some blocks,” Tennant said. We had some really good pulls. I was just following them. Great blocking.”

Last week, quarterback Taylor Ioane was the standout, completing 16 of 16 passes in a 56-8 win over Kamiak.

On Friday, the Papermakers’ ground attack took center stage, with Tennant getting 23 carries. Camas rushed for 300 yards against the Plainsmen.

Evergreen (5-1) had some calls go against them early, which turned momentum against the Plainsmen.

Evergreen did not convert a fourth-and-1 at the Camas 41 in the first quarter. The Papermakers then marched downfield for the first touchdown, a 1-yard run by Tennant.

On Evergreen’s next possession, a 33-yard pass to Jonathan Landry to the Camas 2 was wiped out by a penalty.

Camas (3-3) followed up that with another scoring drive, going up 13-0 on Titan Brody’s 11-yard touchdown run.

From there, the Camas defense took over, shutting down Evergreen’s running attack.

Evergreen tried to get back into the game in the third quarter when Jayden Crace hit Shaudez Grant on a 80-yard touchdown pass, cutting Camas’ lead to 28-7.

But touchdown runs by Brody and Tennant pushed Camas to a 42-7 lead.

Ioane completed 13 of 17 passes for 142 yards and one touchdown as Camas was firing on all cylinders.

Up next is a showdown with Skyview next Friday at Kiggins Bowl, followed by league games against Union and Battle Ground.

“We’ve been dominating,” Tennant said of Camas’ three-game win streak. “We’ve been really good on our run game, pass game. It’s all been good.”
