Seton Catholic scored early and often, demolishing Columbia-White Salmon, 45-14, in a 1A Trico League game on Friday night.
The Cougars (3-2) scored five seconds into the game when Columbia (0-5) fumbled the opening kickoff near its goal line and Seton junior Mason Sullivan recovered for a touchdown.
Seton quarterback Kolten Gesser threw for 382 yards and five touchdowns in the win, getting plenty of help on the ground from sophomore Joe Callerame, who rushed for 156 yards before leaving the game with an injury in the third quarter.
Columbia-White Salmon made a game of it early, with speedy back Petey Schlegel cutting loose for 30 yards on a screen pass to cut the Cougars lead to 13-7 early in the second quarter, but couldn’t keep pace with the high-powered Seton offense.
